In March of 2007 a vision of importing the best SA boutique Style wines from SA to the USA became a reality when a newly engaged couple, Peter Smith and Danielle Gugliemelli, visiting South Africa, crossed paths with a "stranger" at a Health and Wealth business function in Cape Town, South Africa.
This "stranger" was soon to be revealed as Francois Bruwer (The Franco’B Consultancy), negotiant and one of SA's top wine marketing and sales specialists for international markets, including 22 years of experience in the local Wine Industry market. Today he acts as our sourcing agent of fine South African wines.
This encounter was just the beginning of an exiting new journey and marriage between two top wine producing and appreciative nations, where Peter Smith represented the South African Wine culture and heritage and Danielle Guglielmelli represented the American Dream and "pallet".
After intense research, sourcing of wines and negotiations, this dream and vision was realized through determination and persistence and Smith Wines was born on 31 December 2008 . Starting 2009 with good Cheer!
We as the owners, Peter and Danielle Smith are passionate about people. We share years of experience together in the People's business. We enjoy building long-term business relationships and friendship all over the world. We are firm believers in total wellness, and see the love for quality wine as yet another great way to live life, making it part of our life-style.
